No Bummer This Summer - Find Your Perfect Pair of Plus Size Shorts!

It’s not unusual for for many plus size women to prefer not to wear plus sized shorts. It certainly was for me! The only people I ever though that looked good in shorts were athletic types or slender fashion models. Luckily, plus size lines have been paying attention, and now fun styles of shorts and bathing suits are available.

There are now a wide range of retailers to select from when shopping for full figure swimsuits and clothing. There’s even the option to shop for plus size clothes from special juniors retailers, as well as stores specializing in maternity clothing. Swim suits though, and related summery fashions, seemed to be taking a back seat for a long time. Thanks to innovative brands such as Lane Bryant, Avenue, and Torrid, there is a wide range of styles to choose from.

Other than the sizing, you’ll want to factor length and style when picking out your plus size shorts. Shorts that hit at mid-thigh or longer are the most flattering for fuller figures.  For a summery look without showing too much skin, opt for plus size capris, petal pushers, or cropped slacks.

The most flattering plus size shorts will have a flat front without a lot of embellishments.  Unless you have a perfectly flat tummy, it’s a good idea to avoid pleats, since they give the illusion of fullness in the belly area. Flat front shorts in solid colors offer the most flattering look over all. You can be confident that your favorite shirts and blouses will pair well with a flattering pair of shorts. Plus size skirts are another comfortable choice. As with shorts, longer styles of skirts are the most appealing style.  Choose one that falls anywhere between just above your knee to ankle length for the most flattering appearance.

From shorts to plus size swimwear and everything in between, get ready to look your best this summer with fun and flattering fashions!
