Making Banners For the College

I am in the final year of my college. And I have to say that thru out the time i have been here, I have completely enjoyed my life in the school premises. In the last year student’s meeting with the management there was a strange issue that came up. The management needed to get a banner made that would have the varsity name written in such a fashion that it should be legible when reflected from a mirror. As the positioning of that particular banner was such that it needed to be read as a reflection in the mirror and not immediately.

This was quite an entrancing concept and when it would be materialized it might look overwhelming. Now the challenge was there was no one who could do that. And in case we might have got that made professionally then it might have added a cost enough to the college that the budgets would have shrunk.

I paint and draw, though I have never ever undertaken a project as complicated as a banner and that also with such specifications but then I suggested that I want to try my hands on the same. The management was a little disinclined but they allowed me to do so, as they never hand a choice.

When I painted the banner and saw that reflection in the mirror there were so many flaws. The single thing I remembered at that time was my ma buying knock off purses. These would be sinfully matching to the original designer range but still would have variance. Like a mirror reflection but then the fact still is that these knock off purses would be reflections. This gave me a brilliant concept ; I made a tiny size banner, same as I’d have in a larger size though, and placed it next to the mirror. And then having a look at the reflection of the mirror I began to make & paint the banner. By the end of this exercise the actually banner did not seem sensible to me but when I say that thru the mirror it was just perfect. The knock off purses would do the trick.

The next day I took the banner to the college and showed it to the worried person. He couldn’t understand any thing till the time he says the same using the mirror. As he saw that he was dazzled and he appreciated my efforts as the banner looked perfect to him. He got so happy that he left what he was doing and asked his men to put up the banner where it was supposed to be. I loved this but I used to be a tiny nervous, as it looked well as a reflection but I was not sure that after position at the place where it should have been, how it would look.

As the men positioned it, it looked perfect. I am so pleased with have attempted and done that fro my varsity. Years after, it still is there with my name on it. I guess I have paid the varsity what I owed to it for being the successful man I’m today.
