Kids Are Becoming More Intelligent
My boy is 10 years old and I should admit he could be a massive trouble maker. He makes up an excuse for any kind of difficulty he gets into and he knows precisely what to do to get out of these eventualities. I often find myself amazed at his ingenuity in creating stories and plans to get out of difficulty. I only hope he uses these abilities for good when he grows up.
I recall one day where it was announced that some regular tests were being administered in class. Instead of studying for the test, my boy instead did what he loved best, which was play cricket the whole week although the tests were being administered the very following monday. I begged him to take five in order to study, but he lie to me and said the tests were being pushed back another month or so. I never heard about tests being pushed back for such a long period of time but I gave my son the advantage of the doubt. I should have known better. My son hatched one of his sinful stories again.
Well the following three weeks went by and I had since accepted his lie. However, as we ended the end of the month I decided to remind him again that he deserves to be studying as the pushed back tests were coming up again and he needed to do well. As usual, he was tied up doing what he did best, play video games. He innocently responded that the tests were essentially given a month previous and that he had already finished them. He then continued gaming as if we never actually had a chat.
My son lied so well to me that it was like purchasing a Louis Vuitton fake handbag and pretending it was real. That’s how good his lies were. You never knew they were even a lie unless you looked extremely closely. I was saddened that my child had gone to such lengths to lie to me. I asked him how he did demanding to understand what he scored and lied again proclaiming he did the best. I needed to scream at him. It felt like he was throwing a Louis Vuitton fake handbag in my face, and I believed it was real. I requested to see proof of the results . He then got up and showed me the results . Shockingly, he was being truthful. He got all A’s in each subject. It appears he actually is a Louis Vuitton fake purse in that his lies were just about true.
I was mystified about whether to be satisfied that my son did so well on tests or nutty due to the fact that he constantly lies to me. I sat him down for a talk and made certain that he knew I appreciated his efforts on the test. I then asked him how he was in a position to get such scores since he never studied and was always playing. He simply told me he had the facility to keep things very easily and that he only has to hear or see something once and he recollects it forever. I was amazed. My son turned out to be a genius, but that still did not excuse him for lying. Even though was more than happy to find out my boys amazing capabilities, I berated him for lying and trained him appropriately.
